REGISTERED DESIGNS (INTERNATIONAL REGISTRATION)

(AMENDMENT) RULES 201

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 6 A and 7 of the Registered Designs Act, the Minister for Law, after consulting with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and co ence ent

1. These Rules may be cited as the Registered Designs (International Registration) (Amendment) Rules 201 and shall come into operation on 13 November 201 .

2. Rule 2 of the Registered Designs (International Registration) Rules 2005 (G.N. No. S 177/2005) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting the definitions of “Designs Journal” and “International Bureau”.

3. Rule 3(1) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting sub‑paragraph (b) and substituting the following sub‑paragraph:

“(b) published on the Offce’s Internet website at http://www.ipos.gov.sg.”.

4. Rule 7(3) of the principal Rules is amended –– (a) by deleting sub‑paragraph (a) and substituting the following

sub‑paragraph: “(a) be made ––

(i) in the case of a notifable transaction referred to in paragraph (1)(a), in Form CM6; or

(ii) in the case of a notifable transaction referred to in paragraph (1)(b), in Form CM7;”;

(b) by deleting the word “mortgagor” in sub‑paragraph (c)(i) and substituting the word “grantor”; and

(c) by deleting the words “fee for the fling of Form D9” in sub‑paragraph (d) and substituting the words “applicable fee set out”.

5. Rule 9 of the principal Rules is amended –– (a) by deleting the words “on Form D16” in paragraph ( ) and

substituting the words “in Form CM5”; and (b) by deleting the words “Form D1” in paragraph (5) and

substituting the word “writing”.

6. Rule 10(1) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “6 months from” and substituting the words “6 months after”.

7. Rule 15( ) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “3 months from” in sub‑paragraph (a) and substituting the words “3 months after”.

8. Rule 21(3) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “, 67”.

Savings and transitional provisions

9.––(1) An application for registration of the relevant particulars of a notifiable transaction made before 13 November 201 under rule 7(3) of the principal Rules as in force immediately before that date shall on or after that date be treated as made under rule 7(3) of the principal Rules as in force on or after that date.

(2) Any request for an extension of time made before 13 November 201 under rule 9( ) of the principal Rules as in force immediately before that date shall on or after that date be treated as made under rule 9( ) of the principal Rules as in force on or after that date.

(3) Any representations fled with the Registrar before 13 November 201 under rule 9(5) of the principal Rules as in force immediately before that date shall on or after that date be treated as fled under rule 9(5) of the principal Rules as in force on or after that date.
