Law Amending the Myanmar Merchandise Marks Act

Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Law No. 35/2013

3rd Waning of Thadinggyut 1375 M.E

22nd October 2013

The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw hereby enacts this Law.

1. This Law shall be called the Law Amending the Myanmar Merchandise Marks Act.

2. The expression “two hundred kyats” contained in Section 6 and 7 of the Myanmar Merchandise Marks Act shall be substituted respectively with the expression “fifty thousand kyats”.

3. The expression “fifty kyats” contained in section 9, sub-section 3 of the Merchandise Marks Act shall be substituted with the expression “twenty thousand kyats”.

4. In section 12, sub-section 2 contained in the Myanmar Merchandise Marks Act-

(a) the expression “one thousand kyats” shall be substituted with the expression “one hundred thousand kyats”;

(b) the expression “to the State” shall be substituted with the expression “to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar”.

5. The expression “President of the Union” contained in the section 16, sub-section 1 contained in the Myanmar Merchandise Marks Act shall be substituted with the expression “relevant Ministry”.

6. The expression “President of the Union” contained in section 19 of the Myanmar Merchandise Marks Act shall be substituted with the expression “Ministry of Finance”.

7. In section 20 of the Myanmar Merchandise Marks Act –

(a) the expression “President of the Union” contained in sub-section 1 shall be substituted with the expression “Ministry of Commerce with the approval of the Union Government”;

(b) the expression “President of the Union” contained in sub-section 4 shall be substituted with the expression “Ministry of Commerce with the approval of the Union Government.”
