Details Details Year of Version 1990 Dates Entry into force: November 1, 1990 Enacted: November 1, 1990 Type of Text Framework Laws Subject Matter Patents (Inventions), Trademarks, Copyright and Related Rights (Neighboring Rights), Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, Plant Variety Protection, Other Notes The Courts and Legal Services Act 1990 provides for the procedure for allocation of business between the High Court and other courts, provision of legal services, appointment of the Legal Services Ombudsman and amendments to the Arbitration Act 1950. The Act is structured into 6 Parts and 20 Schedules. Sections 27 and 28 of this Law, as amended by the Legal Services Act 2007, provide for the authority of the Institute of the Trade Mark Attorneys to grant rights of audience and rights to conduct litigation. Section 68 in Part II ”Legal Services” provides for the preparation of documents by registered patent agents and trade mark agents. Section 73 in Part 1A of Schedule 10 “Judicial and Other Appointments” provides for the substitution of words in section 145(3) of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 that deals with the requirements for the Copyright Tribunal.
