Details Details Year of Version 2021 Dates Amended up to: January 25, 2021 Entry into force: October 20, 2008 Published: October 20, 2008 Adopted: September 28, 2008 Type of Text Framework Laws Subject Matter Other Notes This consolidated version of the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador takes into account amendments up to Legislative Resolution published in the Registry Official Supplement No. 377 of January 25, 2021. The Single Article of the said amending Resolution added a new paragraph 4 to Article 272 under Chapter V, Title V, which became into effect on January 25, 2021. Article 322 under Section 2, Chapter 6, Title VI of this consolidated Constitution reads: "Intellectual property is recognized pursuant to the conditions provided for by law. Any form of appropriation of collective knowledge, in the fields of science, technology and ancestral wisdom, is forbidden. The appropriation of genetic resources contained in biological diversity and agricultural biodiversity is likewise forbidden."
