Details Details Year of Version 2025 Dates Amended up to: June 16, 2025 Commenced: December 29, 1967 Assented: December 22, 1967 Type of Text Other Texts Subject Matter Industrial Property, Trademarks Notes This consolidated version of the Companies Act 1967 incorporates all amendments up to the Companies and Limited Liability Partnerships (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act 2024 (Act No.23 of 2024), which entered into force on June 16, 2025. The consolidated text of the Companies Act 1967 recognizes intellectual property rights as corporate assets that can be charged or transferred and provides mechanisms to ensure that company names do not infringe registered trademarks. Specifically, intellectual property rights are subject to charges (Sec. 131(3)(j)) and disposal (Sec. 162), and company names must not infringe registered trademarks (Sec. 27(2)(c)).
