Interpretation of the Copyright Law for Companies and Associations

AUTHENTIC INTERPRETATION OF LAW NO. 6683 ON COPYRIGHT AND RELATED RIGHTS

THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF COSTA RICA HEREBY DECREES:

Sole Article.– The authentic interpretation of Articles 111, 132, 133 and 156 of Law No. 6683 of October 14, 1982 shall be that the terms “company” and “companies” shall not refer exclusively to the corporations covered by Costa Rican legislation and shall include associations registered in accordance with Law No. 218 of August 8, 1939 on Associations.

Done at the Office of the President of the Republic.– San José, on the sixth day of August of the year one thousand nine hundred and ninety­seven.

INTERPRETACIÓN AUTENTICA DE LA LEY DE DERECHOS

DE AUTOR Y DERECHOS CONEXOS, N° 6683

LA ASAMBLEA LEGISLATIVA DE LA REPÚBLICA DE

COSTA RICA, DECRETA:

Artículo único.-Interpretase auténticamente que en los artículos 111, 132, 133 y 156 de la Ley de Derechos de Autor y Derechos Conexos, No. 6683, de 14 de octubre de 1982, los términos "sociedad" y "sociedades" no se refieren exclusivamente a las sociedades mercantiles contempladas en la legislación costarricense y comprende las asociaciones inscritas conforme a la Ley de Asociaciones, No. 218, de 8 de agosto de 1939.

Dado en la Presidencia de la República.-San José, a los seis días del mes de agosto de mil novecientosnoventa y siete.
