Territorial Information

Application of the Additional Act of Monaco (1961) to the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba: December 27, 1985; Entry into force: January 1, 1986. Notification of suspension of the application to Aruba: February 20, 1989, with retroactive effect from January 1, 1986. Notification of denunciation with regard to Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and the islands of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba: December 13, 2010, with effect from December 13, 2011.

Accession to the London Act (1934) included the Dutch East Indies, Netherlands Antilles and Suriname. Notification of denunciation with regard to Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and the islands of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba: December 13, 2010, with effect from December 13, 2011.

Ratification of the Hague Agreement (1925) included Dutch East Indies, Suriname and Curaçao. (see La Propriété Industrielle 1932, No.1, p.2)

 
Additional Information

The territories of Belgium, Luxembourg and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Europe are, for the application of the Hague Agreement, to be deemed a single country.

The instrument of ratification of the Geneva Act (1999) was accompanied by a declaration under Article 19, according to which:
"The Benelux Office for Intellectual Property is designated as a common office to the three Benelux countries and the territories of the three countries to which the Benelux Convention on Intellectual Property applies (trademarks and designs) is considered as one single Contracting Party for the application of Articles 1, 3 to 18 and 31 of the Geneva Act".
