Details Details Year of Version 2018 Dates Entry into force: January 1, 1968 Adopted: December 15, 1967 Type of Text Main IP Laws Subject Matter Patents (Inventions), Competition, Undisclosed Information (Trade Secrets), Plant Variety Protection, Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge (TK), IP Regulatory Body Notes This consolidated version of the Patents Act incorporates all the amendments up to Act No. 26 of May 11, 2017, on Amendments to Procedural Act, which entered into on different dates.
For the amendments introduced by Section 10 of Part II of the said Act No. 26, which entered into force on January 1, 2018, see the changes to sentence 2 of paragraph 1 of Section 70 under Chapter 11, which reads: Compensation, stipulated by the district court if no amicable settlement is reached, shall be paid for the assigned right.

The notification by Norway to the WTO under article 63.2 of TRIPS states:
'This English version of the Norwegian Patents Act (LOV-1967-12-15-9) is an unofficial translation, containing the main provisions on patent protection. The latest amendments introduced into this version cover the implementation on Regulation (EC) 1901/2006 on the extension of the supplementary protection period for medicinal products for paediatric use.'
