Details Details Year of Version 2023 Dates Amended up to: November 1, 2022 Entry into force: January 15, 1999 Assented: December 11, 1998 Type of Text Main IP Laws Subject Matter Trademarks Subject Matter (secondary) Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, IP Regulatory Body, Competition, Geographical Indications Notes This Revised Edition 2020 of the Trade Marks Act 1998 takes into account amendments up to the Statutes (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act 2022 (Act No. 30 of 2022), which entered into force on different dates. Sections 22, paragraph (14) and 23 of the said amending Act No. 30 of 2022 introduced the following amendments to the said Revised Edition 2022: - In section 31(5) under Part 3, the word “plaintiff’s” was deleted wherever it appeared and was substituted by “claimant’s”. - In section 109 under Part 11, subsection (2) was deleted.
