Details Details Year of Version 2004 Dates Amended up to: October 31, 2004 Entry into force: February 15, 1967 Promulgated: January 1, 1967 Type of Text Framework Laws Subject Matter Other Notes This is the Constitution of 1967, as amended on November 26, 1989, November 26, 1994, December 8, 1996, and October 31, 2004. The Uruguayan Constitution recognizes a free, independent and sovereign Republic, with the exclusive right to establish their laws. In its Art 33, Section II of Duties Rights and Guarantees provides that intellectual work, as well as the right of the authors, inventors or artists, will be recognized and protected by law. Similarly, through Article 34 dictates that all artistic and historical wealth of the country, whoever the owner, is cultural treasure of the nation. Will be under the protection of the state and the law will establish what is deemed necessary for its defense. Corresponds to the President of the Republic, acting with the respective minister or ministers, or the Council of Ministers to grant Industrial Privileges under the law, see Article 168 (21).
