Declarations, Reservations

Paris Act (1971): Objection by the Federal Republic of Germany (July 23, 2004): "The Federal Republic of Germany hereby raises an objection to the declaration on 23 March 2004 by the Republic of Turkey concerning Article 33(1) of the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of 9 September 1886, as revised at Paris on 24 July 1971. The declaration runs contrary to Article 33(2) of the Convention according to which a state can only declare that it does not consider itself bound by the provisions of Article 33(1) at the time it signs the Convention as revised at Paris on 24 July 1996 or deposits its instrument of ratification or accession". (see Berne Notification No. 242)

Paris Act (1971) - Articles 1 to 21: This State has declared that it admits the application of the Appendix of the Paris Act to works of which it is the State of origin by States which have made a declaration under Article VI(1)(i) of the Appendix or a notification under Article I of the Appendix. The declarations took effect on October 18, 1973, for Germany, on March 8, 1974, for Norway and on September 27, 1971, for the United Kingdom. (see Berne Notification No. 49)

Stockholm Act (1967): The instrument of ratification contained a declaration provided for in Article 28(1)(b)(i) of the said Act to the effect that the ratification does not apply to Articles 1 to 21 and to the Protocol Regarding Developing Countries. (see Berne Notification No. 22)
